KIOGE-2022: NEW SCENARIOS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF KAZAKHSTAN'S OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY

In the autumn of 2022, Almaty will host an actual "energy week", including a number of events dedicated to the development of key sectors of the economy: oil and gas and energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. On September 28-30, the 28th Kazakhstan International Oil & Gas Exhibition and Conference, KIOGE-2022, will be held in Almaty. The 7th World Petroleum Council Youth Forum (September 29-October 2), as well as the 20th Kazakhstan International Energy Industry, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Power Engineering Exhibition Powerexpo Almaty 2022, will also take place on the same dates.

KIOGE has long been a key event for the oil and gas industry, and a meeting place for leading companies from Kazakhstan and neighbouring countries, international industry experts and government representatives. Last year, the event was held for the first time in Kazakhstan's capital, with 156 companies from 9 countries exhibiting and 1,526 unique visitors attending the three-day event.kioge

In view of the strategic importance of the oil industry, it is necessary to work out further development scenarios, taking into account the challenges of the new times. According to the Instruction of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, it is necessary to start development of the large Kalamkas-Sea and Khazar fields, actively attract investments in geological exploration and start searching for new fields. The transformation of global energy and the widespread introduction of artificial intelligence, green waste management, the active use of renewables and the principles of a green economy must be taken into account. The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan also has ambitious plans to increase oil production from 85.7 million tons in 2021 to 87.5 million tons in 2022. This year, gas production is expected to be 54 bln.m3, while production of marketable gas will be 29.4 bln.m3, gas exports will be 7.7 bln.m3, and production of liquefied gas will be 3.1 mln. tonnes. Implementation of projects at Karachaganak, Kashagan and Tengiz facilities, as well as timely commissioning of new prospective fields, will increase production of crude gas to 87.1 bln.m3 by 2030. Of course, oil and gas companies, representatives of the state apparatus and industry associations have a number of relevant topics for offline meetings and support for effective networking.

At KIOGE, participants will present the latest technology, engineering and software developments for oil and gas producers from leading mining, oil and gas and oilfield service companies. The exposition will present 13 areas of oil and gas industry, including geology, geophysics, digitalization, non-destructive testing, engineering solutions, infrastructure development and so on. AVC Group LLP, KazMunaiKhim LLP, Steel Trade NS LLP and others will take part in the exhibition for the first time.

International business interest in cooperating with Kazakhstan and developing new markets is evidenced by the annual participation in the German national stand, as well as the collective stand of several Russian regions.

Professionals from leading domestic and international companies will be able to attend a panel session on gas industry resetting processes at the KIOGE 2022 Conference. Gas consumption in the country is increasing every year, but the rate of gas production has not kept pace with this growth. Attention should be paid to increasing the investment prospects of the industry, as well as expanding the resource base of gas.

In one of his speeches, K.J. Tokayev noted that the transfer of modern digital technologies and the introduction of elements of Industry 4.0 are extremely important for Kazakhstan. The KIOGE Conference will include sessions on introducing innovative solutions and digitalization in exploration.

Through interactive voting during the presentation of industrial showcases, the jury will select the best technological solutions for the oil and gas industry sectors. Also, a PR&GR meeting with Kazakhstan's oil and gas industry women leaders will take place on September 28. The best green technologies will be discussed in a thematic session on environmental responsibility.

On the second day of KIOGE 2022, a Plenary Session will be held to discuss strategies for developing the industry, identifying topical issues and solutions for the future. "Kazakhstan has taken a steady course towards the development of renewable and alternative energy sources. We had previously set a target of 10% by 2020. Taking into account the new realities and current positive trends, I set the goal of increasing the share of renewables in electricity generation to 15% by 2030," K.J. Tokayev said in his speech.KIOGE will include a session on renewable and alternative energy sources. At the roundtables, experts will discuss the challenges of hydrogen power generation, the process of recycling drilling and refinery waste, and the technological upgrading of plants.

In addition, the participating companies will hold thematic seminars at which speakers will share practical case studies on the application of technological solutions.

KIOGE will be officially supported by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakhstan Association of Oil and Gas and Energy Sector Organisations (Association of Legal Entities KAZENERGY), KazMunayGas NC JSC, KazService Union of Kazakhstan Service Companies, Kazakhstan Society of Oil and Geologists (KSOG), and the PETROCOUNCIL Strategic Partnerships Council.

Tengizchevroil LLP is the General Partner of KIOGE 2022.
