KAZAKHSTAN ATTRACTS WORLD LEADERS: OVER 400 COMPANIES FROM 34 COUNTRIES PRESENT LATEST TECHNOLOGIES AT MINING AND METALS CENTRAL ASIA AND KAZCOMAK 2024
ON SEPTEMBER 17, THE LARGEST INDUSTRY EXHIBITIONS IN THE FIELD OF MINING AND METALLURGY AND ROAD AND PUBLIC UTILITIES BEGAN THEIR WORK IN THE SOUTHERN CAPITAL OF KAZAKHSTAN, ALMATY CITY: THE 29TH CENTRAL ASIAN INTERNATIONAL MINING EXPLORATION & MINING EQUIPMENT - MINING AND METALS CENTRAL ASIA 2024 AND THE 20TH KAZAKHSTAN INTERNATIONAL ROAD AND HEAVY CONSTRUCTION, COMMUNAL MACHINERY EXHIBITION - KAZCOMAK 2024.
The combined exposition of the exhibitions was located on 20 thousand square meters, occupying three pavilions and a street area of the Atakent KCBC. The latest technologies and developments for the mining and metallurgical complex and road and public utilities, including machinery, equipment for mining operations, mining and processing plants, solutions for ensuring mining safety, digitalization and automation were presented by 402 companies from 34 countries, such as Australia, Austria, Belarus, Great Britain, Germany, India, Iran, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Canada, Cyprus, China, Lithuania, Norway, UAE, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Slovenia, USA, Turkey, Finland, France, Switzerland, Sweden, South Africa, South Korea, Czech Republic, Chile, Uzbekistan, Ukraine. Manufacturers from Great Britain, Germany, China, Turkey presented national stands. The increased interest of the international community in the Kazakhstan market is confirmed by the statistics of the exhibition, over 50% of the participants are foreign exhibitors.
Along with the development of the industry, the exhibition areas continue to grow. The number of participants has increased by 15% compared to 2023, and its area itself has increased by a quarter. It is important to note that 74 companies are participating in Mining and Metals Central Asia and Kazcomak for the first time, which indicates the continuing interest of new entrepreneurs from around the world who are ready to take part in the development of the ore and mineral mining sector in Kazakhstan.
In addition to the demonstration of new equipment at the stands, as well as 78 units of large-sized equipment for the mining industry on the street area, the attention of numerous visitors to the exhibitions was attracted by a rich business program. It was launched by the Plenary Session on the topic “ESG initiatives in the Mining and Metallurgical Complex of Kazakhstan: overcoming challenges and searching for new opportunities”, the speakers of which were Turar Zholmagambetov, Deputy Chairman of the Industry Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerbolat Kozhikov, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Regulation and Control of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kathy Leach, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Tulegen Mukhanov, Advisor to the Executive Director of the Republican Association of Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises ALE, Professor, Honorary Miner of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Academician of the International Academy of Informatization, Ruslan Baimishev, President of the Kazakhstan Mining Chamber, Askar Sembin, Advisor to the General Director of the Park of Innovative Technologies Autonomous Cluster Fund, and other industry experts-practitioners. The session was moderated by Askar Kukeyev, Head of Consulting Practice for the Mining and Metallurgical Sector, Senior Manager at Strategy & PwC.
The plenary session ended with a ribbon cutting ceremony with the participation of the speakers, as well as Talgat Abdullayev, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Atakent KCBC JSC, Edward Strachan, Director of ICA JV, Boris Danilenko, Director of Iteca Kazakhstan Exhibition Company, which marked the official opening of the exhibitions. Later, the honored guests went on a familiarization tour of the exposition.
During the Plenary Session, Turar Zholmagambetov, Deputy Chairman of the Industrial Development Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in his welcoming speech noted: “Today’s meeting is dedicated to key initiatives that will determine the future of our sector, its competitiveness and sustainability”. T. Zholmagambetov also shared plans for the development of the industry, noting that the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan is launching a significant initiative. QazIndustry will reimburse up to 40% of the costs of enterprises for the purchase of advanced technological equipment. The state is actively creating conditions for the implementation of ESG initiatives in the mining and metallurgical complex. We encourage companies to reduce their carbon footprint and increase social responsibility.
The business program schedule also included sessions: “IT architecture and application of AI in mining and metallurgy complex”, “Cyber resilience and cyber threat: man as a key element”. In partnership with AMM Congress, AMM Tech, dedicated to the topic of new technologies, innovations and practical solutions, was held. Practitioners from ProLabSupport, RIVS NGO, Altel Business, DNA-BLAST MSC, Rikaz held training seminars for all industry professionals who wanted to participate.
In order to get acquainted with the innovative solutions presented at the stands, as well as to exchange experiences, the exhibition was visited by delegations of specialists from various divisions of the largest industry players, such as Solidcore Eurasia, Kazakhmys Corporation, Tau-Ken Samruk, KAZ Minerals, Qazindustry Kazakhstan Industry and Export Center, Kyrgyzstan and Kumtor Gold Company (Kyrgyzstan).

The exhibitions are traditionally held with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Akimat of Almaty city, Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Tau-Ken Samruk National Mining Company JSC, the Republican Association of Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises (AMME), the World Bank of Kazakhstan, as well as trade representations and diplomatic missions of the participating countries.
