KIOGE-2024: SENSATIONAL RESULTS OF THE FIRST DAY OF THE INTERNATIONAL OIL AND GAS EXHIBITION AND CONFERENCE
TODAY, SEPTEMBER 25, THE 29TH INTERNATIONAL OIL AND GAS EXHIBITION AND CONFERENCE — KIOGE 2024 WAS OFFICIALLY OPENED IN ALMATY. THIS IS A LANDMARK EVENT FOR THE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY, WHICH EVERY TWO YEARS BRINGS TOGETHER SUPERVISING MINISTRIES AND INDUSTRY UNIONS, NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS REPRESENTATIVES FROM AROUND THE WORLD, LEADING EXPERTS AND INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS ON ONE SITE.
The KIOGE exhibition was traditionally located in three pavilions of the Atakent KCBC, and 340 companies from 20 countries of the world became exhibitors. Companies from Germany, China, and Russia presented their national stands. 40% of the total number of participants demonstrated their products and services for the first time, which demonstrates the growing interest in the region and its potential. The stands presented the latest technological, engineering, and software developments for oil and gas producing companies.
The ceremony and subsequent familiarization tour of the exhibition were attended by Almasadam Satkaliyev, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the UAE, Askhat Khassenov, Chairman of the Management Board of KazMunayGas NC, Sanzhar Zharkeshov, Chairman of the Management Board of Qazaqgaz NC, Giancarlo Ruiu, Managing Director of NCOC, Ali Al-Janabi, Chairman of the Shell concern in Kazakhstan, Dzhambulat Sarsenov, Vice President for Diversity, Inclusion and Youth of WPC ENERGY, Talgat Abdullayev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Atakent KCBC, Boris Danilenko, Director of the Iteca Exhibition Company. During the VIP tour, the honorary guests visited the stands of KazMunaiGas, Tengizchevroil, NCOC, QazaqGaz, Socar, SHELL, HMS, Transneft, PIT AKF, QazMunayHim, Tatneft, Lukoil, CNPC and others.
More than 700 delegates from 11 countries, such as Azerbaijan, Great Britain, Kazakhstan, Russia, Italy, Germany, UAE, Oman, Poland, Turkey, China, and Uzbekistan became participants of the KIOGE-2024 Conference. This year the conference was held in a new location - the Ritz-Carlton Almaty hotel. The Conference began its work with a plenary session on the topic: “International partnership in the implementation of energy projects”. The speakers were Almasadam Satkaliyev, Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Askhat Khassenov, Sanzhar Zharkeshov, Ali Al-Janabi, as well as Seger Hoytink, the Head of Eni in Kazakhstan, Venera N. Anderson, Strategy Advisor, Member of the Advisory Board of Harvard Business Review. The participants discussed the implementation of oil and gas projects within the framework of the concept of sustainable development, reducing the risks of investment projects in oil and gas, optimal strategies for the development of Kazakhstan in the near future and strengthening the position of local content.
A. Satkaliyev, Minister of Energy, in his welcoming speech emphasized that the energy sector is the basis of socio-economic stability at the local, regional and global levels. “The Republic is one of the largest oil and gas producers and exporters in the world. In 2023, oil production in Kazakhstan amounted to 90 million tons (655 million barrels), while oil exports last year amounted to 70.5 million tons (517 million barrels). The current goal is to increase oil production to 100 million tons per year (approx. 730 million barrels) by 2030. As for natural gas production, in 2023 this figure reached 59.1 billion m3, and by 2030 it is planned to reach 90.7 billion m3. The Government of Kazakhstan has set an ambitious goal of achieving zero emissions by 2060. Achieving this goal is only possible through the development of advanced low-emission technologies, including best available techniques (BAT) and the mobilization of green financing”, said the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
A highlight of the schedule of conference was the final of Industry 4.0 Startup Battle KIOGE. The competition of startups in the field of industrial digitalization, organized by PIT ACF, came to an end, and the winners received cash grants and, most importantly, the opportunity to cooperate with leading oil and gas companies. Also, the first day program of the Conference included a strategic session on geological exploration and development of new fields in Kazakhstan, a panel discussion “Strengthening the local content of the oil and gas industry”, a presentation of Chevron Direct Investment Fund Ltd. KIOGE - networking, over 150 b2b and b2g meetings were planned within the framework of the project.
In parallel, seminars of participating companies were actively held in the seminar area of the exhibition, representatives of such companies as Insol Technology, Tengizchevroil, Kazintrust, HEGGEL GmbH, Alstron shared their experience and practical knowledge. During the final of the 8th season of the Student Energy Challenge competition, active attention was paid to young talents and possible future start-ups in the oil and gas sector. The competition has been held by the KAZENERGY Association in cooperation with SHELL Kazakhstan since 2017. 14 teams from 12 universities in Kazakhstan presented innovative solutions in the fields of energy, ecology and emission reduction technologies, and the winners will be announced tomorrow.
Another innovation this year was the launch of the ITECA.EVENTS mobile application, the main task of which is to create ideal interaction between visitors and participants. Using the application, it is possible to schedule meetings with potential customers, view the list of participants and products/services presented at the exhibition, have access to the most relevant information (navigation plan, business program), collect a contact database based on the results of meetings, view individual personalized recommendations created by artificial intelligence based on the filled in data. In short, ITECA.EVENTS is the entire exhibition in a digital format.
