SYNERGY OF MEDICINE AND THE PHARMA INDUSTRY: INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITIONS KIHE AND PHARMATECH KAZAKHSTAN 2025 HELD IN ALMATY
FROM MAY 21 TO 23, 2025, THE ATAKENT EXHIBITION CENTER HOSTED KAZAKHSTAN’S LARGEST TRADE EXHIBITIONS – THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY KAZAKHSTAN INTERNATIONAL HEALTHCARE EXHIBITION – KIHE 2025, AND THE 2ND KAZAKHSTAN INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION OF EQUIPMENT, RAW MATERIALS, AND TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY – PHARMATECH KAZAKHSTAN 2025.
The 2025 exposition took place in three pavilions and an outdoor area, where 400 companies from 16 countries presented their advanced technologies in healthcare and the pharmaceutical industry. Participants in the 30th Anniversary KIHE exhibition included companies from Belarus, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany, Egypt, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Turkey, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. Companies from Germany, China, and Uzbekistan presented their solutions as part of national pavilions. Export centers from Belarus, Poland, and Russia organized collective booths.
The exhibitions showcased an array of innovations, from cutting-edge medical, laboratory, diagnostic, and rehabilitation equipment to modern pharmaceuticals, medical consumables, healthcare products, surgical instruments, and medical services.
For the first time, experts presented and tested modern diagnostic equipment featuring artificial intelligence technologies, showcasing new possibilities for the medicine of the future. A unique cultural highlight was the opening of an art exhibition by artist Dosbol Kassymov, whose paintings capture the daily routines of doctors through the lens of artistic interpretation.
The high level of international participation – with 63% of exhibitors coming from abroad – confirms the exhibition's status as a key international business platform. International participants noted that the event was highly productive:
“We have signed a number of agreements, including those related to intraocular lenses, ophthalmic solutions, surgical sutures, and ophthalmic blades. We are very optimistic and plan to participate again next year. In fact, we’re planning to expand our booth, as the response was phenomenal,” shared Keshri Harsh, Executive Director of SRB Medzone.
The business program kicked off with a Plenary Session titled “Kazakhstan’s Health Capital: Investments, Partnerships, and Innovations”, featuring Vice Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Nurlybayev; Chairman of the Board of the Association of Individual Entrepreneurs and Legal Entities “National Chamber of Healthcare”, Nurzhan Otarbayev; Regional Director of IQVIA for Kazakhstan and the CIS, Zhibek Kerimbayeva; General Director of Medtronic Kazakhstan LLP, Gulzhan Rustemova; Deputy Chairman of the Board of Baiterek Venture Fund, Azamat Yeralin; and Executive Director of the venture company Activat VC, Meirzhan Yessimkhanov. The session was moderated by Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, President of the Kazakhstan Association of Reproductive Medicine, and President of the Association of International Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, Vyacheslav Lokshin. As per tradition, the plenary session concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Following this, the plenary speakers, representatives of industry associations, members of diplomatic missions from participating countries, and the exhibition organizers took a familiarization tour of the exposition.
In just three days, the exhibitions welcomed 4,939 unique professionals from 50 countries! Exhibitors noted the large number of industry-related visitors and their strong interest in the showcased products, which is clear evidence of the relevance and competitiveness of the exhibits in today’s market conditions.
“This is our company’s first year participating in this exhibition, but despite that, we are very pleased because the event was held on a very large scale, and we were left with a very positive impression. Our team is thrilled by the huge interest in our products,” shared Zhansaya Kamasheva, Sales Manager at UMC Kazakhstan.
The exhibitions received many positive reviews from participants and visitors, who praised the high quality of organization, the diversity of exhibitors, and the ease of interaction. Askar Boranbayev from the company Sunkar shared his impressions:
“I have been attending the exhibition for three years in a row. Each time, I find something useful and new. This year, I was particularly interested in the Turkish manufacturers – I found some great offers. I arranged a collaboration with Betamix, a company that produces sutures and meshes. I definitely plan to attend the exhibition again next year.”
An intense business program took place simultaneously across three venues for participants and visitors. On the first day of the exhibition, May 21, the Kazakhstan MedInvest Forum kicked off, featuring panel sessions such as “Health Infrastructure: Partnerships and Solutions” and “Development of Medical Tourism: Horizons of Central Asia”. Medstandard hosted a panel discussion titled “Current Trends in Registration: Perspectives of Experts from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Azerbaijan, and the Role of Business in This Process”. Additionally, there was a session organized by LABOFARMA and a conference held by the Kazakh Society of Anesthesiologists and Resuscitators. Companies DNA-Technology, Vista Med, Grand Lens Nova, ALPHALAB R&D, KAZANADA, and 103.kz conducted a series of specialized workshops.
On May 22, the conference “The Pharmaceutical Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan: Current Realities and Development Prospects” was held as part of the PharmaTECH Kazakhstan 2025 expo event. The conference opened with a plenary session “The Pharmaceutical Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan: Current Realities and Development Prospects”. After the plenary session, the conference continued with three thematic sessions: “Provision of Medicines”, “Regulation of Medicines and Medical Devices in Today’s Realities”, and “Labeling of Medicines”. Companies such as ITCO MED, STERIMED, 4clinic, ASIA MEDICAL PARTNERS, ZYBIO Inc., and WELLGO conducted educational workshops. The day also featured a Presentation of Domestic Medical Startup Projects and a Conference of Healthcare Organization Leaders.
On May 23, an Open Foresight Session titled “1MEDTV.Kazakhstan: Initial Results and Development Prospects” was held, alongside workshops conducted by NASCO HEALTHCARE Inc., MedRocket, and the Agency for Accreditation of Medical Organizations (AAMO).
The KIHE and PharmaTECH Kazakhstan exhibitions became a hub for networking among local and international healthcare professionals, offering participants and visitors a valuable opportunity to share experiences, find new partners, learn about the latest trends, and implement innovations – all in one place.
